HOW TO MEMORISE
Explanation

Translated from Ustadz Firanda Andirja's Indonesian commentary (Bekal Islam). Quoted verses, hadith and duas keep their Arabic; where the commentary gave its own Indonesian rendering of them, that rendering is not translated and is marked [translation not shown].

(اللَّهُمَّ بِكَ أَصْبَحْنَا) That is: because of You, O Allah, we enter the morning under Your protection, immersed in Your bounty, occupied with remembering You, seeking help through Your name, under Your guidance, moving with strength from You, and acting by Your will. (وَبِكَ نَحْيَا وَبِكَ نَمُوتُ) That is, You are the One who brings us back to life (from our sleep) and You are the One who causes us to die (puts us to sleep); and so our state continues at every time and in every condition. (وَإِلَيْكَ النُّشُوْرُ) That is, we (are raised) only to You, not to anyone other than You. (See: Tuhfatul Ahwadzi 9/236)
