(None has the right to be worshipped except Allah, alone, without partner, to Him belongs all sovereignty and praise and He is over all things omnipotent.O Allah, none can prevent what You have willed to bestow and none can bestow what You have willed to prevent, and no wealth or majesty can benefit anyone, as from You is all wealth and majesty.)

HOW TO MEMORISE
Explanation

Translated from Ustadz Firanda Andirja's Indonesian commentary (Bekal Islam). Quoted verses, hadith and duas keep their Arabic; where the commentary gave its own Indonesian rendering of them, that rendering is not translated and is marked [translation not shown].

This dua contains the affirmation of Allah's oneness in worship and declaring it free of any association of partners in it, because worship is the right of Allah alone, which a servant is obliged to carry out. It also contains praise of Allah for all the favours He has given, so that the servant is able to single Him out in worship, as well as countless other favours. (لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ، وَلاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ) Here it indicates the affirmation that all the actions of servants are created by Allah. That is because when we say “لاَ مَانِعَ لِمَا أَعْطَيْتَ” and “لاَ مُعْطِيَ لِمَا مَنَعْتَ”, it indicates a general negation: no one can give, and no one can withhold a gift, except Allah, because in reality no one can withhold or prevent a gift except Allah. So from this it is clear that giving and withholding are something created by Allah, which is then brought about by the servant. (As explained by Ibn Battal in Syarah Shohih Bukhori 10/321) Then the content of (وَلاَ يَنْفَعُ ذَا الْجَدِّ مِنْكَ الْجَدُّ): Ibn Battal said: “(al-jaddu) means share, so what is meant is that a person's share in this world will not benefit him with Allah on the Day of Resurrection.” At-Thabari also said: a person's share in this world, in the form of wealth and children, will not benefit him in the Hereafter, because the only thing that benefits with Allah in the Hereafter is deeds; and this accords with what Allah says: يَوْمَ لَا يَنْفَعُ مَالٌ وَلَا بَنُونَ، إِلَّا مَنْ أَتَى اللَّهَ بِقَلْبٍ سَلِيمٍ “The Day when there will not benefit [anyone] wealth or children But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart” (Saheeh International, Qur'an 26:88–89) (Surah Asy-Syu'ara: 88-89) (See Syarh Shohih Al-Bukhori Libni Batthol 2/495 and 10/321)
